The Smithereens, known for writing and playing catchy 1960s influenced power pop that have inspired many, will take the Main Stage at 4:15 p.m.
There is plenty of activities planned for the Fourth of July celebration in Baker Park where residents of all ages can enjoy beginning at noon.
Bob Goff, the chairman of the Fourth of July Committee, said there are three stages of live entertainment planned including the Main Stage, WFRE Free Country Stage and the GEICO Band Shell.
The entertainment kicks off at noon with an Independence Day Celebration by City carillonneur John Widmann. Immediately following this will be students from Let There Be Rock School in Frederick at the GEICO Band Shell performing a variety of rock infused patriotic music. They will play again on the Main Stage at 1:45 p.m. where they will perform several sets featuring classic rock anthems of the 1980s.

The music returns to the GEICO band shell at 6 p.m. with Mark Bryan and the Screaming Trojans. They will be performing a mix of popular covers, original tunes and obscure B side tracks from 80s groups. From 8 p.m. until the fireworks begin, the Spires Brass Band will play an instrumental performance that will inspire an appreciation for the art of the traditional English Brass Band.
At the WFRE stage located at the southwest side of the swimming pool along Fleming Avenue, Josh Robbins will kick-off the stage at 1:15 p.m. with the singing at the Star Spangled Banner followed by Matt Gary beginning at 1:30 p.m. Thompson Squared will be performing at 4 p.m. They are a Grammy nominated group who has also earned three fan-voted American Country Awards. Randy House will conclude the line-up at 7 p.m. House was a presenter and nominee at both the ACM awards and the CMA awards.
Other entertainment includes the bath tub races at Culler Lake and for the first time, residents can take a ride in a tethered hot air balloon.
Goff said the fireworks will cap the day off beginning at 9:30 p.m.
