Three businesses sold liquor to minors.
Due to recent complaints about sales of alcohol to underage customers, the Maryland State Police Criminal Investigation Section conducted a compliance check on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 9th. State Police Cadets who were all under the legal age to drink alcohol entered six establishments in the Walkersville and Woodsboro areas.
Authorities say Woodsboro Liquors at 601 S. Main St. in Woodsboro, Riverside Liquors at 1299 A in Frederick and D&B Liquors at 8415 K Woodsboro Pike in Walkersville get high marks for refusing to sell alcoholic beverages without proper identification.
But State Police say Walkersville Liquor at 25 Maple Avenue in Walkersville, Village Way Liquors at 128 Walkers Village Way in Walkersville and Barnes Liquors at 9711 Liberty Road in Frederick did not follow proper procedures in requesting identification, and sold alcohol to the underage cadets.
The results were forwarded to the County's Alcoholic Beverage Inspector, Harold DeLauter, and the County Liquor Board for further action.
