Frederick County and Central Maryland's deep history of the Civil War will be explored in a documentary premiering on September 11th at 8 p.m.
Chris Haugh with the Tourism Counsel said the program is called Maryland's Heart of the Civil War" and will tell stories of some of the most fought over U.S. territory during the war.
"It is such a very unique history we have in our area. Really kind of starting with geography but then going back to the civilan population and the culture that really kind of kicked it off for us," Haugh said.
This year marks the 150th commemoration of the American Civil War's 1862 Maryland Campaign. There will be an advanced screening played at the Weinberg Center on Tuesday, September 4th at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
