Flood Warning Issued For Frederick County

Several roads are closed due to high water from heavy rains.

The National Weather Service  has issued a Flood Warning for Frederick County until 8:45 AM Wednesday.  Officials are reporting several roads closed due to high water from the heavy rains.  Here is a partial list.

Frederick County

Rt. 550, North/South, at Woodsboro Pike

Rt. 80, Bennett Creek Avenue

Rt. 355, North/South, Big Woods Road

Rt. 77, South/North, Between Frushour Road & Old Frederick Road

Michaels Mill Road Between Rts. 80 & 85

Rt. 355 near Urbana High School

Ijamsville Road at Mussetter Road

Hessong Bridge Road at the bridge

Flooding is reported on Biggs Ford Road, Glissan Mill Road, Hornest Nest Road, Stauffer Road, Daysville Road, Crum Road and Friends Creek Road. 

Carroll County

Rt. 194, North/South, Keysville Rd.

Rt. 75, North/South, Main Street

Rt. 31, North/South, Chruch Street

Rt. 75, North/South, at Rt. 84

The National Weather Service has also issued a Flood Warning for the Monocacy River near Frederick.  The River is expected to rise above flood stage Thursday morning.  Flood stage is 15.0 Feet.  The waters will reach 16.4-feet by early Thursday morning, and then begin to fall in the evening.  Moderate  flooding is expected. 

The Weather Service says water is approaching the parking lot of the Gambrill Mill at the Monocacy National Battlefield.  Backwater flooding is likely from Carroll Creek approaching the underside of the bridge leading to the city's wastewater treatment plant.
