TransIT To Hold Public Hearing On Grant Application

TransIT Services of Frederick County has scheduled a public hearing on Tuesday afternoon, January 31st at 1:30 to present information on its fiscal year 2013 grant application.

The local agency plans to apply to the Maryland Transit Administration by March 6th for nearly $4-million. The money will be used for ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) urban area transit, rural transit, State Special Transportation Assistance county-wide demand-response transportation for elderly and disabled persons, and Rideshare. The application will also include funding requests for preventive maintenance and two replacement vehicles.

The hearing will be held at the TransIT Services offices at 1040 Rocky Springs Road in Frederick.

Anyone who needs special accommodations should call TransIT at 301-600-2065 Monday through Friday betweeen 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Citizens who need specialized transportation should make their request by Friday, January 27th. Residents who need the presentation to be made in alternative formats, such as large print and sign language, need to make arrangements by Tuesday, January 24th.

Written comments may be submitted through  Monday, February 6th.
