A taxi driver was injured and the vehicle he was driving was stolen late Thursday in an armed robbery, Hagerstown Police said in a news release.
Police responded to the incident in the area of Bryan Place and West Church Street at 11:52 p.m., the release said.
The unidentified driver from Turner Taxi told police that a man wearing a dark blue hooded sweat shirt displayed a knife and demanded money from him. After a brief struggle, the driver received cuts to his hand, according to the release.
The driver was able to get out of the taxi, which was then driven away by the knife-wielding man, police said. The taxi was later found unoccupied in the first block of Avalon Avenue, the release said.
The taxi driver was taken to Meritus Medical Center, where he was treated and released, according to police.
