He's wanted for failure to appear in court.

Frederick Police are looking for a Poolesville man who fled following a traffic stop Friday afternoon.

Parris Eugene Mason, 45, was stopped in the 1500 block of Opposumtown Pike shortly before 4:00 PM by Officer A. Alcorn. The officer initiating the stop made contact with the driver who gave him paperwork identifying him as Mason. As he checked the paperwork, Officer Alcorn found out that Mason was driving on a suspended license, and had a warrant for failure to appear in court for driving while suspended.

When Alcorn returned to Mason's vehicle, the driver took off. A pursuit began, but was called off after seven minutes by the officer's supervisors, who felt the chase didn't outweigh the risks to public safety.

A warrant is being sought for Mason.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Officer Alcorn at 301-600-7501, or the Tip Line at 301-600-TIPS {8477}. Citizens can also send their information by e-mail at fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org.
