Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal accident that happened early this morning in Washington County.
Authorities say troopers were sent to Rt. 65 just north of Lappans Rd. at 3:23 a.m. for an accident.
Once on scene they found Robert Sanderson, 31, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road and over-turned in a field. Sanderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The front-seat passenger, Kelsey Gray, 21, was seriously injured in the accident. She was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.
Police say speed was a factor in the accident. Sanderson was wearing a seatbelt, Gray was not.
