The Governor's proposal would shift teacher pensions to local governments.
Senator David Brinkley has put together a proposal that could help save the counties millions of dollars under the Governor's proposal that would shift teacher pensions to local governments. "SB 836, the idea behind this, still requires sharing by the counties, but establishes a median across the states and the State would pay 100% up to that median threshold, then the jurisdictions would cover everything over and above that, so we will see," said Brinkley. "For Frederick County, they would only pay $170,000 instead of $10 million that is proposed in the Governor's bill."
Other counties have rallied against the proposal, too.
