Motorists will have to pay $1 per hour to park there.

If you normally park for free at the former Carmack-Jay's property on North Market Street  in downtown Frederick, that's not the case any more. The city says the space is now a city-monitored parking lot, and customers will pay $1 per hour at a mutli-space parking meter machine located in the lot.

The fee will be in affect Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Parking will be free after 5:00 PM, and on Sundays.

The lot will be monitored until the property is leased.

The Carmack Jay's grocery store closed in the 1990's. It was occupied by a Tesoro's Market for a few years until it closed.
