Residents are advised to be aware of suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

State Police in Washington County say there's been an increase in residential burglaries and thefts in the area. Troopers remind citizens to be suspicious of any strangers who come to their doors.

In one case, individuals came to a house, saying they were selling cleaning supplies and services, and may be carrying a pack of paper towels. Another case involves subjects who knock on a door, tell the residents that they doing some paving in the area, and have some extra asphalt that they could apply to a homeowner's driveway.

Authorities say these individuals are trying to see if anyone is home.

You're reminded to report such activity to local police.
