The Maryland State Highway Administration says traffic appears to be moving normally along a stretch of Interstate 270 near Hyattstown where an armored truck lost some money.
A spokesman says Maryland State Police rejected the agency's offer of assistance in handling the situation Friday morning.
Police say they received a call shortly after 9 a.m. that the truck lost some money in the northbound lanes near the truck scales.
Sgt. Eric Corbin says the truck is on the shoulder and troopers are investigating.
"We know that several motorists stopped and picked up some of the money and we're asking them to return the money to the Rockville Barrack," continued Corbin.
"I do not know how much money, or the circumstances that led to the money becoming loose on the highway."
