Senator Ron Young is one step closer to helping create more jobs after his Senate Bill, 'Maryland Buy American Steel and Manufactured Goods Act', unanimously passed the State Senate Wednesday.

He said this bill would require Maryland and their contractors to buy steel and other goods from American manufactures.

"There are very few things except electronics that somebody in this country doesn't make. If everyone went out of their way to buy American products, it would put an enormous amount of people to work so it is one easy step we can take to create jobs in the United States again," Young said.

Young said since 2001, 32% of our nation's manufacturing jobs have disappeared. If this bill passed the House, it could create 2,000 jobs in Maryland.
