An 11 year veteran of the Frederick Police Department is in trouble with the law.

Officer Robert Pierce was off duty and involved in a single vehicle collision on Route 15, at Jefferson Street, where he struck a guard rail, on Wednesday. "Probable cause existed to believe he was driving under the influence of alcohol," said Lt. Clark Pennington, in a press release. Pierce was arrested and transported to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office for further processing.

As the investigation continues by the Sheriff's Office and the Frederick Police Department, Officer Pierce is currently suspended, with pay.
