Investigators say they could be part of a series of thefts.

Frederick Police are investigating a series of motorcycle thefts which may be related to similar incidents in other parts of the state.

Authorities say several 600cc Kawaski Ninjas have been reported stolen within a short period of time. Working with police agencies in other jurisdictions, local investigators say the thefts in Frederick could be part of a larger series of thefts in other areas, where "sport" motorcycles, not necessarily Kawaski Ninjas, have been targeted.

If you own a motorcycle, police say take the necessary precautions to protect it from theft. They include parking inside a secure garage, and the use of security devices such as wheel locks, clamps, cables, alarms and vehicle locators . In addition, motorcycle owners are urged to park their bikes in well lit areas, and place identifying marks on various parts of the motorcycle.
