A Lexus was taken from a locked garage on Rockwell Terrace.

Frederick Police have charged a local man with car theft.  Nehemiah Abdul Williams, 21, was arrested on Friday, and charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and several traffic offenses.

Officers responded on February 16th, 2012 to 406 Rockwell Terrace, and determined that someone had taken a 2009 Lexus RX350 SUV from a locked garage.

On February 26th, a cop on routine patrol spotted the Lexus and tried to stop it. After a vehicle chase, the driver jumped out at South and Degrange Streets, and fled on foot. A search of the area for the operator was unsuccessful.  But the Lexus was recovered and returned to its owner.

Police say evidence from the scene identified Williams as the driver, and he was taken into custody.
