A career drug offender is finally going away for a long time.
A career drug offender is finally going away for a long time.
U.S. Attorney for Maryland Rod Rosenstein said 28 year old John Hamilton Kaine was sentenced to 12 years in prison Friday, in U.S. District Court for selling crack cocaine. "We hope that cases like this really do send a powerful message to deter people from engaging in this type of criminal conduct."
Last April, Kaine was seen by two Montgomery County Police Officers engaging in two drug transactions. He tried to get away, but they caught him and confiscated almost 13 grams of crack. But before that, he had already been convicted on three previous drug charges. "We use the term exile to characterize our program to target violent offenders and repeat drug offenders who have been prosecuted previously in the State system and who have demonstrated in their repeated criminal conduct that they are not willing to reform," said Rosenstein.
Kaine will be sent to a federal prison far away from the State of Maryland to serve his time.
