No one was injured.

A Westminster man was arrested on Friday afternoon for attempting to shoot his roommate after an argument. Douglas Lee Barnes, 53, is charged with 1st and 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment and the use of a firearm in a crime of violence.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the 1900 block of Frizzellburg Road to investigate reports of shots fired. A caller told authorities he was on the second floor of the home, and couldn't get out because his roommate was firing a handgun. Deputies were able to persuade Barnes to leave the home without incident.  He stumbled and fell as he walked out on to the front porch.

Barnes was taken to Carroll Hospital Center for an emergency evaluation. After his release, Barnes was charged.

The victim told deputies he became involved in an argument with his roommate. To diffuse the situation, he went to the second floor of the home. Authorities say Barnes continued to threaten the victim, firing a handgun several times. Some of the bullets entered the victim's bedroom, striking the floor and the mattress. He was not hit.

Deputies obtained a search and seizure warrant and entered the home. They found several firearms, including a handgun believed to have been used in this incident, as well as some spent shell casings.  Authorities say holes in the wall were similar in size and shape to a bullet's entry and exit.
