'Victim' could be charged.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says a man who claimed he was shot by an intruder inside of his home last Friday, April 13th was not telling the truth. Deputies say the "victim" admitted that he accidentally discharged a revolver inside of his residence in the 300 block of Gorsuch Road near Westminster, and was not shot by another person.

The 41-year-old male was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with gunshot wounds to his right hand and leg.

The Sheriff's Office says it's conferring with the Carroll County State's Attorney's Office to see if charges will be filed. The revolver believed to have been used in this incident was located by deputies who executed a search and seizure warrant at the "victim's" home following the incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has additional information which may help in the investigation is asked to call Detective Fred Timms at the Carroll County Sheriff's Office at 410-386-2900.
