Two people were shot, one fatally, in Ranson, W.Va. on Wednesday morning.

Police Chief William Roper says an officer was dispatched to the Apple Tree Gardens Apartments along North Mildred Street at around 5:00 AM to investigate reports of shots fired. He found Rachel Cook, 26, who lives in the unit, suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. She was taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital for treatment. Dontrell Curry, 27, of Ranson, was found deceased in the rear bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.

"Right now, we are continuing our investigation, looking into the possible aspects as to what actually occurred within the apartment," says Chief Roper. "Whether it was a home invasion, and/or whether it was something that occurred from an incident concerning visitors or what have you."

The Chief also says: "We're right now looking for two individuals or persons of interest, that possibly may have been in the apartment at the time the incident occurred."
