A recent addition to Facebook could help save lives.

"It's very easy to do, you go to your timeline and click on life events, and there's a selection where you can hit house and wellness then choose to become an organ donor. There is also a second step to that, Facebook has also added a link to your state registry where you can also register in your state to become on organ donor," Darla Magtibay with Southwest Transplant Alliance said.

Every day, 18 people die waiting for an organ donation. By using Facebook, the goal is to increase the amount of donors by 40%.

Magtibay said by using Facebook, this could make family members aware of their wish to become a donor in case something happens to them.
