Frederick Police have arrested a Thurmont man for setting up a recording device in a women's  restroom at a local bank. Matthew William Birkmire, 28, was taken into custody on Tuesday, charged with 38 counts of private place---prurient intent, and one count of stalking.

Birkmire was an employee at the Woodsboro Bank at 900 North East Street. Officials there contacted police on May 4th, 2012 about a suspected video recording device that had been placed in a women's restroom.

Detective Aaron Lapp, who took charge of the investigation, and Officer James Dodson, worked closely with bank management to identify Birkmire as the suspect.  Authorities say Birkmire put the video recorder in the women's restroom to record female co-workers.

Birkmire was released on $5,000 bond following a hearing Tuesday before a District Court Commissioner.
