May 18th, as of 5:00 p.m.

The Frederick County G-8 Summit Information Center released the following information:

The Frederick County G-8 Summit Information Center and the allied law enforcement partners working together are reporting that as of 5:00 p.m. on May 18, 2012, the situation in the county is calm and there are no significant incidents. Small groups of demonstrators have been in downtown Frederick and Thurmont today.

Other than MD-77 and the road closures contained in Cunningham Falls State Park <http://www.dnr.state.md.us/dnrnews/pressrelease2012/040212.asp> and Catoctin Mountain Park, there are no additional road closures in the county. Traffic is moving normally. Traffic is reported to be heavy on I-70 at this time, which is typical for a Friday evening commute.

The Information Center and Call Center (301-600-3000) remain operational, assisting media and citizens. Most calls being received at the Call Center are from citizens asking for information about any road closures or traffic issues.

Citizens are being updated through an active social media outreach from county officials. Information is being provided through www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/G8Frederick <http://www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/G8Frederick>, as well as www.facebook.com/G8Summit/FrederickCounty <http://www.facebook.com/G8Summit/FrederickCounty> and www.twitter.com/G8Frederick <http://www.twitter.com/G8Frederick>
