Frederick Police have charged a man with assaulting his date. Michael Gerome Warfield, Jr. was arrested Saturday night near North Bentz and West Church Streets.

An officer on routine patrol in that area says Warfield had his arm around the woman's neck, and she was trying to get away. The cop stopped his car, prevented Warfield from the asasulting the woman and took him into custody.

An investigation revealed that Warfield was dating this woman, and she was trying to leave the area. An argument began, and he grabbed her, not allowing her to leave. When the police officer told Warfield he couldn't do that, he responded by saying she was "his girl, and he could."

He was taken to Central Booking, and charged with 2nd-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
