The Park Service says it's for added security.

Some temporary closures will occur at Catoctin Mountain Park this weekend. A statement from the Superintendent's office says parts of the park will be closed to visitors from Saturday, June 2nd beginning at 11:30 AM, until Sunday, June 3rd at 3:30 PM due to increased security measures. The Camp David Presidential Retreat is located within Catoctin Mountain Park.

Park Central Road will be closed from the Camp Misty Mount entrance to Camp Greentop, but reservations for Poplar Grove, Camp Misty Mount, Camp Greentop and Camp Roundmeadow will be honored.

Picnickers may use the Chestnut Picnic area.

Hikers can use trails to the Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock and Chimney Rock, as well as the Falls Nature Trail from the Visitor's Center Trailheads. But the route to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock are not available. The Catoctin National Recreation Trail will be open, as well as Manahan Road and trails to the west of Manahan Road.
