SHA says it's mostly due to the wet, rainy weather.
The State Highway Administration says the planned opening of the Monocacy Boulevard Extension betweem South Street and Market Street in Frederick will not happen on Wednesday. The rainy weather has delayed the opening.
Because part of the roadway goes over some railroad tracks, SHA says it needs work out some issues with CSX, the owner of the tracks. The MARC commuter train arrives into and departs from Downtown Frederick using those tracks.
SHA and the City of Frederick described the new route as an easier way to get into and out of the city.
The road will open, says SHA, but not on Wednesday, June 13th, as originally planned.
