He was arrested Sunday night.

The Sheriff's Office has charged a Frederick man with attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment following an incident in Urbana Sunday night.  Michael R. Mayberry, 30, was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Giant Food along Sugarloaf Parkway.

Authorities say the victim, a 60-year-old Monrovia man, had finished eating dinner at the Atlantic Grille and was coming out to his car when he was attacked by a man with a knife. The victim sustained lacerations to his right hand and face. He was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Several witnesses called 911 for assistance.

Deputies arriving at the scene saw Mayberry holding a knife, and ordered him to drop the weapon, which he did.

Mayberry was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
