The Frederick County Public School System has announced the appointment of Tracey Lucas as Executive Director of School Administration and Leadership. Lucas starts her new job on July 1st.
The position was created by the Superintendent as part of a reorganization.
Lucas began her career with FCPS in 1988 teaching language arts, social studies and foreign languages to middle school students.
After serving as a teacher specialist for the Career and Technology Center since 1998, Lucas was hired by the Maryland State Department of Education, where she worked as the lead coordinator for Division of Career and Technology and Adult Learning. She held that job between 2000-2001.
When she returned to FCPS, Lucas was hired as Assistant Principal at West Frederick Middle School. She was named Principal of Windsor Knolls Middle School in 2005.
In 2008, Lucas was chosen as the instructional director of middle schools for Secondary School Improvement, Instruction and Administration, a position she currently holds.
Outside of her job with the School System, Lucas also serves on the Frederick Arts Council's Grants Review Committee, the Frederick Literacy Council and Villa Maria Boards. She is also president of Leadership Frederick County with the Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, she has served as Adjunct Professor for the Hood College graduate program since 2006.
