It happened during a party.

A Walkersville man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Hagerstown. Antonio Michael Joyner, 25, was shot in the upper torso during a party at 730 Guilford Avenue. He was taken to Meritus Medical Center where he died shortly thereafter, police say in a news release.

According to the Hagerstown Herald Mail, Officer Derek Marshall was on patrol in the area and saw a large crowd outside of the home and stopped to see what was going on. He found Joyner lying in the kitchen of the home, and administered CPR. An ambulance was called to the scene, and Joyner was taken to the hospital where he died.

Police also tell the Herald-Mail that about 20 people were at the home for a birthday party when a fight broke out. During the fracas, Joyner was shot in the upper torso. Authorities say Joyner was involved in the fight, according to the paper.

Joyner's body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Lt. Tom Langston with Hagerstown Police tells the Herald-Mail it's not certain if Joyner was shot in the chest or back. He says only one shot was fired from a handgun.
