Frederick Police are seeking a man who stole an expensive watch from Colonial Jewelers in the downtown.

Authorities say the individual walked into the store at 1 South Market Street Wednesday afternoon, and asked to see an 18-karat yellow gold Rolex President wristwatch. After he was shown one of the watches, he grabbed the item and fled the store on foot, running along East Patrick Street.

Some customers gave chase, but lost him near the library.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, 6-feet tall with a thin build. Anyone who has information on this man and his whereabouts is asked to contact Frederick Police 301-600-2100, or they can leave their information anonymously at 301-600-8477.
