The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) will close its full-service and express offices on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. All Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) stations will also be closed.
Customers are advised that the days before and after a holiday are especially busy, and they are encourage to "go on-line" to complete their MVA transaction. Many MVA transactions can be completed via the Internet through the MVA’s eMVA initiative -including payments for vehicle registration. eMVA makes a variety of routine transactions available electronically and they can be completed without the need to "stand in line" at an MVA office. To reach eMVA and the available electronic transactions twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, log on to www.mva.maryland.gov and click on "Online Services." You will then have access to the following transactions:
Renew Registrations
Obtain Duplicate/Additional Registration Cards
Renew Identification Card
Replace Titles
Change your Address
Obtain Driving Records
Obtain Temporary Registration
Purchase Background Scene License Plates
Purchase Personalized Plates
Purchase County Pride Stickers
Download & Print Specific Forms
Get Information on Administrative Flag Fees
Manage Emergency Contact Information
Extension of your Vehicle Emission Inspection Program (VEIP) Test Date
Customers can also complete transactions via the MVA Interactive Voice Response Phone System by calling 1-888-834-7344. This system can handle the renewal of a vehicle registration and the payment of an Administrative Flag Fee.
MVA wants to encourage customers to use these alternate methods to complete their MVA transactions from the comfort of their home or office and not visit an MVA office unless it is absolutely necessary.
