BERKELEY COUNTY, WV - A Falling Waters man has been charged with 141 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after 132 dogs and 8 cats were taken from his home in late June.
According to a release, Deputy St. Clair searched the home after receiving a complaint from Donna McMahan, an Animal Control officer. McMahan said she had several complaints about animals being mistreated at 64 Slate Lane.
The release states every time an officer would go to the home, the owners, Rocky and Shelly Triolio, would never let them inside.
Officers found the animals extremely dehydrated, underweight and covered with feces. The walls, television, counter tops and even the stove were also covered with feces.
"Every room I went into had feces on the floor and dogs everywhere," said Deputy St. Clair in his release. "I noticed that Ms. Trolio was trying to clean up feces on the floor using a big farm shovel. There were even feces on the stove and the burner holes filled with feces. The smell in the residence was unbearable."
Police did not find any food, water bowls or litter boxes in the house.
One dog had a gash on its neck and had to be put down at the home after officers arrived with a search warrant.
Shelly Trolio was not charged because her husband said she had nothing to do with the animals.
Trolio was released on $$42,300 bond Monday.
