He was described as a family friend. Now a Frederick man faces charges of attempted sex abuse of a young girl.

Frederick Police reported in a press release that on June 13th, the mother of a 9-year-old girl allowed Deandre Handy to spend the night at her home.

In the middle of the night, Handy went into the girl's room, removed her from her bed, and took her to the room where he was staying.

He then proceeded to remove her clothes and then the girl woke up. She immediately ran from the room and told her mother what happened.

After an investigation, detectives arrested Handy on July 10th and charged him with attempted sex abuse of a minor, 2nd degree assault, and attempted 3rd and 4th degree sex offense.
