The National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia has issued a flash flood watch from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m. for the entire listening area.

Meteorologist say rainfall rates of one to two inches per hour can be expected from afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Excessive rainfall could cause creeks and streams to rise quickly out of their banks and could flood low-lying and urban areas.
