Maryland State Police are continuing to investigate an accident that claimed the life of a woman on Sunday afternoon in Frederick County.

According to a press release, Troopers responded to the scene of the accident on Southbound 270 at Bennett Creek near Urbana at 3:20 p.m.

Police learned that a 2009 Subaru, operated by a woman, had driven into the rear of a tractor trailer that was in the right lane. The woman was killed on impact.

A male passenger was seriously injured. He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured in the accident.

Southbound 270 was closed for several hours during the investigation.
