Authorities say speed appears to be a factor in this crash.
The Maryland State Police in Frederick have released the identities of those involved in a deadly crash Sunday afternoon along Interstate 270 near Bennett Creek in Urbana, and unfortunately it was a double fatal.
Tracy Ann Reuschel, 60, of Gaithersburg was killed after the 2009 Subaru Imprezza she was driving crashed into the rear of a tractor trailer, which was traveling in the right hand lane on southbound I-270. Due to the severity of the impact, authorities believe she was killed instantly. Witnesses say the Subaru was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Her husband and passenger, James Henry Reuschel, 64, also of Gaithersburg, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. He died on Tuesday, August 14th.
The operator of the tractor trailer, identified as Charles H. Cook, 68, of Hampton, Va., was not hurt.
Troopers say speed is believed to be a factor in this crash, and toxicology tests results are still pending. They say no charges will be filed as the at-fault driver is deceased.
