A Frederick man was sentenced to 30 years behind bars Wednesday for sexually abusing a minor.

Kenneth Freeman, 53, was sentenced to 70 years with all but 30 years suspended. In March, a jury found him guilty on three counts of felonious sexual abuse of a minor.

Police say from 2006 to 2010, Freeman sexually abused two children whom he watched on weekdays and weekends. The oldest victim, who is now 13, testified he was first abused when he was seven years old and in the second grade. The second victim, now 10, was too young to remember when his abuse started, but the 13-year-old remembered witnessing the abuse when he was as young as four or five.

With Freeman's sentence comes five years of supervised probation. As a Tier III sex offender, he also qualifies for lifetime supervision through the sexual offender registry program. Freeman was ordered to have no contact with the victims or any children under the age of 18. He also has to complete a sex offender treatment program.
