After police arrived and made contact with the suspect, he threatened to kill the officers on the scene.
A stand-off with police in Charles Town, West Virginia on Sunday afternoon ended with a man being shot.
According to West Virginia State Police, the incident started around 2:30 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of East Washington Street. Police were told that the man had made verbal threats to kill anyone who tried to enter the home and that he was armed with a 9mm handgun.
After police arrived and made contact with the suspect, he threatened to kill the officers on the scene.
The man was shot shortly after 5 p.m. outside the home. He was taken into custody and transported to Jefferson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The troopers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave and the investigation into the shooting is continuing.
