Frederick County students scored better than the state and national levels.

There is good news for students who took the advanced placement (AP) exams in Frederick County last year.

Deborah Gilmartin with the Frederick County School System said a majority of the students scored high enough to award them college credit.

"Our scores are above the state and national level. For instance, at the student level the percentage of students who scored 3 or better rose to 64.2% and the global level they rose to 61.5% but here at Frederick County, our rate is 71.1%," Gilmartin said. "That means nearly 3/4 of all our students who took the exams are getting a passing score and are getting college credit for those exams."

She said the exams are scored out of five points, with five being the highest score a student could get.
