As security is being increased at U.S. Embassies and Consulates around the world, the four American diplomats killed in Libya on Tuesday are being remembered.
Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski said she extends her condolences and sympathy to the families of the Americans killed. "These men and women are serving the United States of America. They were at their duty stations. They were trying to help Libya rise up to be able to create a government and be able to create opportunity for its own people, and they gave their lives.

"I'm at a little bit of a loss for words because these tragedies that happen to our men and women who serve at our embassies happen all too frequently, and then we say a grateful nation never forgets. Then people go on to bash our federal employees and our State Department saying, they have these cushy jobs in exotic places and they must be out eating brie somewhere."
U.S. Officials continue to investigate whether the attack on the consulate in Libya was really a backlash to an anti-Islamic video or an attack that was planned to coincide with the anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.
