Weather cancels Great FredericK Fair.

Frederick County and surrounding areas were  pounded with heavy rain and winds on Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service  had placed the region under severe Severe Thunderstorm Warning.  Both the northern and souhern ends of the county were under a Flash Flood Warning until later this afternoon, but that has been canceled..  The entire county is under a flood watch until 7:45 PM

As a result of the weather, the Great Frederick Fair has been canceled for Tuesday.  It will resume on Wednesday at 9:00 AM.

With so much preciptation in the region, motorists are urged not to drive through standing water.  Even though the heavy rains have stopped, many roads could still be flooded.   "If anyone runs across a flooded roadway, definately don't drive through it," says Bill Routzahn, Director of Frederick County Higway Operations.  "You don't if the road's going to washed out underneath it."

There are some reports of water coming over the roads in variuos parts of the county.

The Tornado Watch issued earlier on Tuesday has been canceled.

Routzahn also says his crews have been busy on Tuesday with downed tree braches.  Motorists are also urged to be aware of any fallen branches.

Police, fire and rescue  personnel have been busy responding to accidents throughout the day.

The City of Frederick says all sports fields are closed on Tuesday due to the rain, wet fields and standing water.   Anyone who uses the fields when they are closed could face  penalties.

The Frederick County School System has canceled all evening activities.
