Suspect made a bomb threat and got away with cash.

Authorities are searching for a suspect who robbed the Frederick County Bank on Commerce Street in Walkersville Monday afternoon.

State Police say a man walked into the branch, presented the teller with a note saying he had a bomb, and demanded money. The suspect got an undisclosed amount of cash, and left in green-blue 2011 Toyota Yaris with Maryland license plate 1AH2856.

After the robbery, the nearby PNC and BB&T Banks were ordered to close and were evacuated while a State Police bomb detection dog, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office and the FBI conducted a search for an explosive device. None was found.

Also, school system officials placed Walkersville Middle School on partial lockdown, and canceled all after school and evening activities.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 5'6" and 5'9", with a thin build and dark complexion. He's believed to be in his mid-20s. The individual was wearing a gray, long sleeved Baltimore Ravens tee-shirt, dark colored trousers, white sneakers, a gray-tan ball cap with black-rimmed sunglasses on its bill.

Anyone with information on this suspect is asked to call Sgt. Brad Brown at 301-600-4179.
