The road was closed for two and a half hours.

Eastbound I-70 at the 48-mile marker was shut down this morning following a tractor-trailer wreck.  It has since reopened.

Maryland State Police say a passenger vehicle cut the truck driver off, and to avoid striking this vehicle, the truck driver steered to the right, jackknifed and struck and took out approximately 50 feet of guardrail.  Authorities said the fuel tank ruptured in the crash, and the oil pan ruptured during the removal effort, which resulted in a HAZMAT situation.  The interstate was closed for two and a half hours.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
