The Maryland State Highway Administration is advises motorists, that they will close I-68, in Allegany County , at exit 43B at southbound MD 51 in Cumberland , from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m,. on Tuesday, November 13 and Wednesday, November 14. Posted detour signs will direct traffic to use exit 43C, the downtown/Harrison Street exit.

The ramp closure is necessary for safety reasons due to work scheduled on an adjacent building. Contractors hired by Preservation Associates and Canal Place will be using a 125-foot lift to perform masonry repairs on the Footer Dye Works Building on Howard Street, adjacent to the ramp.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes.
