Florida Man Charged In Fatal Frederick County Crash

The man was driving a tractor trailer and rounded a sharp turn at Ed McClain Road. It overturned onto a pick-up truck driving southbound.

A Florida man was charged Monday afternoon in a connection with the Frederick County crash that killed two people and injured three others.

Around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, Watson Pierre, 34 of Sunrise, Florida was driving a tractor trailer filled with oranges was northbound on Rt. 75 in a 30 m.p.h. zone. However, when the tractor trailer rounded a sharp turn at Ed McClain Road, it overturned onto a pick-up truck driving southbound. The speed of the tractor trailer has not yet been determined. Officials say two victims in the pick-up truck were found dead at the scene and another victim inside the truck was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma.

Pierre is charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of failure to control speed to avoid a collision. He was arrested late Monday night after he was treated and released from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

The identities of the victims have not been released.
