It's scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.

The Frederick Classical Charter School has appointed a headmaster. She is Jacqueline Piro, the chairperson of the History Department at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. A news release from the Classical Charter School says Piro has taught in a variety of settings, including regular and private schools as well as inner city charter schools. Piro has taught the classical curriculum and at nearly every grade level from elementary through high school.

The Frederick Classical Charter School expects to open during the fall of 2013 at 8445 Progress Drive in Frederick. It will have space for 280 students from kindergarten through grade six. Seventh and eighth grades will be added over the next two years. The enrollment will be 360 students at full capacity.

When it opens, it will be the third charter school in Frederick County, and the first to use the classical curriculum.

The Frederick Classical Charter School will hold a "Community Information and Meet the Headmaster" night on Wednesday, November 28th at 6:00 PM at the C. Burr Artz Library in downtown Frederick.
