Comptroller Peter Franchot was in Frederick Monday, at the Mission of Mercy’s mobile health clinic.

It was part of his statewide Economic Truth Tour. "In Annapolis we all live in a bubble. Let's be honest. We talk to ourselves and we all read the same economic data. I'am out taking the time to meet with people in the front line who know what's going on in Maryland's economy," said Franchot.

He spoke with patients, medical providers and community leaders about the challenges of providing and receiving care in this economy. The tour is designed for the Comptroller to hear directly from business leaders, government officials and private citizens about economic conditions across the state. "There's a different reality out in the Maryland economy. Not everybody has a job, pensions or health care. Lawmakers in Annapolis really need to make an adjustment and understand what's going on," continued Franchot.

He will meet with representatives from key Maryland industries including agriculture, labor, life sciences, information technology, health care, mining, wineries, real estate, banking, military contracting and hospitality as the Economic Truth tour continues with all 23 counties and Baltimore City.

The initiative is another step in involving all Marylanders in the state’s continuing economic recovery.
