It happened in Carroll County.
At approximately 3:25 pm Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the 900 BLK of Chapel Road. The pedestrian, a 45 year old Westminster man was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Westminster Volunteer Fire Company and transported by ambulance to the Carroll Hospital Center where he was pronounced deceased.
The Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed the man had been walking west bound along the edge of the roadway when he was struck from behind by a 2002 Nissan sedan, operated by a 21 year old Taneytown man, who was also traveling west bound. Sheriff’s Office Traffic Collision Reconstructionists are conducting a detailed investigation of the collision, which could take several weeks. Charges are pending the outcome of that investigation; alcohol is not considered a factor in this collision. The identity of the man struck has been withheld pending notification of his family.
