The trees will be chipped and turned into mulch and compost for people to purchase in early spring.

The Frederick County Christmas Tree Program is asking for anyone who wants to dispose of their live Christmas trees to bring them to their drop off locations. Ann Marie Creamer, Recycling Outreach Program Coordinator, says the program has many locations around the Mid-Maryland region.

"We want those live trees, the cut trees to come to one of the recycling drop off centers and we've put collection points across the county to make it convienent to bring your undecorated cut Christmas trees in for recycling," she said.

Creamer said the trees will be chipped and turned into mulch and compost for people to purchase in early spring.

"We do sell out of both mulch and compost so if you're going to wait until spring to revisit your recycled Christmas tree you may want to give us a call before driving out to our Reichs Ford Road Yard Waste Recycling Center. We do sell out," she said.

Creamer said the program will only take trees that are completely empty of ornaments, lights, and other decorations. The drop off locations will be open December 26th - January 28th.
