8th District Congressman Chris Van Hollen, who officially represents Frederick, after his swearing in last week, says he thinks progress has been made when it comes to the economy. "Well, I think we're getting over the hump, but we're not where we want to be, and that means insuring that we have policies that can accelerate the job growth in the economy," said Van Hollen. "We have to make sure that small business owners have access to credit. There's also important things we need to do to reduce our long term deficit. That means coming up with a way to do targeted cuts as we move forward," continued Van Hollen.
The 8th District covers Frederick, Carroll and Montgomery Counties.
The 113th Congress starts work after one of the least productive terms in history. The last group passed just 151 bills, the fewest in 65 years.
